Ultima History:
Lee Noble, acclaimed automotive engineer and designer, sets up Noble Motorsport Ltd and launches the Ultima Mk1 in 1983.The Ultima Mk1 had a square tube space frame chassis, Ford Cortina front uprights/brakes/steering, Austin Princess radiator and Renault front uprights/brakes on the rear. The V6 engine and transmission were taken from a Renault 30.In 1984,The Ultima Mk2 was developed which replaced the problematic Renault rear suspension with Noble Motorsports own alloy uprights which were machined to accept a Renault wheel bearing and Lancia Beta rear brakes. Ted Marlow then re-engineered his Ultima Mk2 to accept a small block Chevrolet V8 coupled to a four speed Porsche transaxle along with revised suspension and bodywork. He also fitted a small block Chevrolet V8 Formula 5000 based engine into his Ultima Mk2.Ted Marlow then built a small block Chevrolet 377cu ins (6.2litre) V8 using a bowtie block and Kinsler injection to give a higher torque figure and improve corner exit speeds. Noble Motorsport Ltd commissioned a new Ultima body to be designed by an aluminium-rolling specialist that was formed in alloy sheet prior to the fibreglass moulds being taken. This shape becomes the Ultima Mk3.In the late 1980’s,Noble Motorsport Ltd designed a new space frame chassis and the Ultima Mk3 was launched still.Ultima was effectively banned from racing in 1991for being too quick and therefore deemed unfair to other competitors.

Other Ultima Details:
Ultima has suspended the production its previous models; Can-Am, Sport and Spyder. Its current model is the Ultima GTR. Apparently, Ultima GTR is the fastest accelerating and decelerating supercar of all time and multiple world speed record holder. In 2006 the GTR was crowned as the fastest production car in the world, beating the likes of the Bugatti Veyron, Ferrari Enzo and McLaren F1 to a plethora of world speed acceleration and deceleration records. Aerodynamic efficiency and balance has been of paramount importance on a car that is capable of over 200mph. Attention has centred around the length the rear of the car to help clean up the airflow and thus improve down force, whilst maintaining a short front and rear overhang has ensured that the Ultima performs perfectly on normal roads taking speed bumps and ferry ramps in it’s stride. The ultra clean look of the GTR and the faultless self-coloured gel coat bodywork has not been achieved through luck, but rather by design. The production car feel of the Ultima is immediately apparent, from the specially moulded headlight housings and covers to the immaculate panel fit and lack of any external body catches. Huge wheels front and back fill the wheel arches declaring its performance potential while items such as the purpose-made electric wing mirrors combine to create the complete picture.
